Most catering companies will charge extra for travel expenses depending on how far your party is from their nearest location.

Typical hibachi catering Price per person?

Hibachi catering cost is usually priced per person and typically between $50 – $70 per adult or more, depending on the factors mentioned above.

On the lower end, you may be able to find a basic hibachi catering package for around $50 per adult, which includes a few meat options, rice, and vegetables. Companies that charge $50 and under are typically just starting out and are willing to have a lower price.

If you see the $50 and under price point be sure to check the company’s history, reputation and reviews.

On the higher end, you may be able to find a more extensive menu with premium meats and seafood, as well as additional sides and appetizers that will run closer to $70-$80 per person.

Hibachi Yokohama, the best, most experienced hibachi catering company, sits in the middle at $60 per person and $30 per child.

Kids are usually considered to be between 5-12 years old at that $30 price. 13 and older are typically adult price while 4 and under are usually free.

For those 4 and under they would not get a full meal but typically one protein serving and 1/4 cup of rice.

It’s important to get a detailed quote from your chosen catering company to ensure you understand all the costs involved.

Note that this is typical range if it does not include setup. The companies that include tables, chairs and party setup generally charge a lot more and usually at least $100 per person.

Take Yokohama Hibachi as an example. We do not charge a travel fee for the first 20 miles from our closest location to you. But there is a travel fee of $2 per mile after the free 20 miles.

So for example if you were booking a party in the Los Angeles/Orange County area the zip code of their nearest location is: 92807.

If your party was 30 miles from that zip code you would be charged a $20 travel fee. 30 miles. First 20 miles free. $2 per mile x 10 = $20.

This fee helps cover the additional costs incurred by the distance traveled beyond the initial 20 miles. By understanding these specifics, you can better budget for the overall costs associated with hosting your event at a distant location.

Should you tip your Hibachi Chef?

A common question is: Are you supposed to tip your Hibachi chef? And the answer is yes. While technically its usually not absolutely required, tipping your Hibachi chef for a catering party is as common as tipping at a nice restaurant.

Most customers tip between 18% and 25% of the cost of the party directly to the chef in cash.

Some customers are so pleased with the performance of their chef that it is not uncommon for them to tip much higher than that.

While tipping is not required, the chefs work very hard for them and would likely be very disappointed if they were not given a tip.
